Here’s What You Need To Know About Opening & Closing Your Custom Shower Door

There may be a variety of reasons that can address the above problems and different steps can be taken to prevent them. Nevertheless, one of the most important aspects is how clients operate custom shower door enclosures and proper maintenance. This can prevent damage and leaking from your shower.
How To Properly Operate A Custom Shower Door
Many clients think that shower doors can be opened and closed without paying attention to it. However, if the shower door opens in and out without following proper steps, this may cause dislocation of the shower door and eventually leaking.
Here are the open/close procedures:
- 1. Before you enter the shower, the first step is to swing the door approximately ¾ of the total swing. The sweep located under the door as well as all rubber seals will smoothly operate.
- 2. After completion of this movement, the shower door will be ready to be opened. This approach will allow the shower door to operate properly and the bottom sweep and rubber seals will have a longer life.
- 3. Never try to open shower door in short movements, this can cause the bottom sweep to be stuck on the shower curb and as a result dislocate the shower door from the hinges. Always make at least ¾ of the swing.
Proper Shower Door Maintenance
Once proper operation of the shower door is mastered, the next step will be to implement proper maintenance that will allow you to enjoy your shower enclosure for a long time.
Once every three to four months, it is recommended to do a visual inspection of the shower enclosure. This includes:
- Checking the silicone.
- Checking the door hinges and handles, the door sweeps, rubber seals, stationery panel brackets, sliders hardware, and general functionality.
- It is recommended that once a year processional maintenance service is scheduled to check above listed items and make necessary adjustments.
