“No Biggie” Tile Switcheroo In Skokie
No-Fuss, No-Muss Tile Swap In Skokie, IL
We Pulled Off This Tile Switcheroo And Managed To Stick To
The Original Project Time-Frame
Ever saw something beautiful-looking in a photo, and then saw it in real life looking much less beautiful? Photos often lie.
We learned this the hard way with this Skokie bathroom remodel.
Bumps and ridges. Slight blemishes and bruises. Hidden underbellies… These features are often forgiven in photos and exposed under the harsh glare of reality. As remodelers, we’re well aware of this.
That’s why we take every precaution to ensure that what we have on paper mirrors real life as closely as possible.
And we’re usually successful.
This project stands out in our minds precisely because it’s so rare for this kind of thing to happen to us.
It Looked Good On Paper
At 4Ever Remodeling, product selection is not some willy-nilly arbitrary process. We’re obsessed with high-quality products. And we’re obsessed with getting your preferences just right.
Bottom line: We take product selection seriously because we take you and your home seriously.
That’s why we have multiple rounds of revisions, 3D visualization software, and a whole team of design professionals single-mindedly dedicated to helping you select the right products.
This Skokie client hired us to remodel two bathrooms. He selected a specific tile for one of the bathrooms. On paper, the tile color and design looked flawless.
The keyword here is paper. Because once we installed the tile on the bathroom wall, flawless was NOT the term we’d use.
It was hideous.
An Ounce Of Inspection Is Worth A Pound Of Prevention
There’s a very good chance we wouldn’t have caught the ugly tiles until it was too late. Lucky for us (and the client), we have a strict system of supervision for all of our remodeling projects.
Our project managers visit the job site daily to provide guidance, troubleshoot any issues, and make sure everything progresses meticulously.
During a routine visit to the job site, the project manager caught a glimpse of the tiled bathroom wall and stopped SHORT. He called an emergency meeting with the design team. After some deliberation, they decided the tiles had to go.
Being True To Who We Are Matters Most
All this happened without the client in the know. It would’ve been easy for us to turn a blind eye to the tiles and just let things be.
But that would’ve gone against every one of our core values, not to mention totally being anti our company culture.
Out With The Old, In With The New
Swapping out one product for a different product is simple before installation. After installation, it’s another story. A harder, more complex story.
At 4Ever Remodeling, we try super hard to provide realistic time frames – and STICK TO THEM. Our design-build method enables us to shorten the time frame for your project – and keep to our deadlines. We’re all too aware of the stereotypical remodeling horror tales of time frames that stretch on for months.
The different teams involved in this project coordinated behind the scenes to make sure that this unexpected product swap didn’t throw off the timeline. Once our project manager and design team determined that new tiles were in order, we worked together to swap out the old tiles and install new ones in 3… 2… 1!
3. Our installers efficiently removed the tiles from the wall
2. Our design department ordered new tiles
1. Our installers meticulously installed the new tiles
With everyone collaborating efficiently, we were able to remove the offending tiles and install new, beautiful tiles WITHOUT derailing the entire project.
